Brief History of Jade Emperor Pagoda
Jade Emperor Pagoda was built in 1909 by Luu Minh, a Chinese immigrant to Vietnam. The pagoda worships the Jade Emperor (known as the supreme deity in Taoism), along with Buddas and other revered figures from Chinese mythology.
Between 1943 and 1986, the pagoda underwent four restoration projects, ensuring the preservation of its architectural and artistic integrity. In 1994, the Jade Emperor Pagoda was recognized as an Artistic and Architectural Site of National Significance. Then, the pagoda received a special honor with a visit from the President of the United States, Barack Obama, in 2016.

Main Entrance

Main Hall
Inside the main building, there are two especially fierce and menacing Taoist figures: one general who defeated the Green Dragon and one general who defeated the White Tiger.

The Ten Courts of Hell Area
On the left-hand side of the Jade Emperor’s room is the shrine of Thanh Hoang — the Chief of Hell. In this room, there are many figures of gods who dispense punishments for wrongdoings and rewards for good deeds.
Also, it contains the famous Hall of the Ten Hells. The carved wooden panels illustrate the different torments awaiting evildoers in each of the Ten Regions of Hell.
The Outside (Garden and Courtyards)

Right in the middle of the courtyard, there is a fish tank about 50 square meters wide, with many different types of fish. Adjacent to it, on the right-hand side, is a turtle tank where worshippers release turtles as part of their prayers.
