How Much Does a Vietnam and Laos Trip Cost from India?

A Vietnam and Laos tour costs ₹65,000 to ₹1,10,000 per person for land services over 8 to 12 days, plus return flights from India at roughly ₹20,000 to ₹40,000, bringing the trip to about ₹85,000 to ₹1,50,000 before visas and the flight between the two countries. Where a Vietnam Laos tour package lands within that range depends on trip length and on whether the route adds Vientiane to Luang Prabang.
  • What the land package includes: 4-star hotels, private air-conditioned transfers in both countries, an English-speaking guide in each city, scheduled sightseeing, a Halong Bay cruise, daily breakfast with selected lunches and dinners, and bottled water on tour days.
  • What it excludes: international flights from India, the flight between Vietnam and Laos, domestic flights within Vietnam, both visa fees, meals outside the itinerary, single supplements, additional tips and personal expenses, and bank transfer fees.
Travel Style Land Package (Per Person) Services
Budget / Backpacking ₹35,000 – ₹60,000 3-star hotels and guesthouses, shared sightseeing and transfers, local meals
Mid-Range / Comfort ₹65,000 – ₹1,10,000 4-star hotels, private transfers and guides in both countries, Halong Bay cruise. The Hanoi to Luang Prabang flight is quoted separately and booked on request
Premium / Luxury ₹1,40,000+ 5-star hotels and boutique resorts in Luang Prabang, premium cruise cabins, private dining
Land-only, quoted per person on twin-sharing. The Mid-Range row reflects typical 4-star pricing for a Laos package from India combined with northern Vietnam; the other two are typical market levels for the same routes.

Costs Travellers Forget on a Two-Country Trip

On top of the land price, the Laos trip cost from India adds 4 items that a Vietnam-only trip does not involve.
  • Vietnam e-visa: ₹2,375 (US$25) for single entry, or ₹4,750 (US$50) for multiple entry
  • Laos e-visa: about ₹4,750 (US$50) per traveller, plus the bank charge on the card payment
  • The flight between Vietnam and Laos: Hanoi to Luang Prabang takes about 1 hour 10 minutes and is quoted separately
  • Tips in two countries: guides and drivers change at the border, so travellers should budget for both legs
Laos also requires a free online arrival form before entry, covered in the next section. At 8 days, a Vietnam and Laos itinerary starts at about ₹65,000 per person, close to the ₹63,270 starting price of an 8-day Vietnam-only trip at the same hotel standard. Travellers can see the full budget in our guide to a Vietnam budget trip from India, from flights to daily spending.

Visas for Indian Travellers: Vietnam and Laos in One Trip

Yes, a Vietnam and Laos trip needs 2 separate visas: a Vietnam e-visa and a Laos e-visa, and Indian passport holders can apply for both online before departure. Neither country is visa-free for Indian travellers, and neither visa covers the other.
  • Vietnam e-visa: The Vietnam e-visa costs US$25 (₹2,375) for single entry or US$50 (₹4,750) for multiple entry, allows a stay of up to 90 days, and is applied for online at evisa.gov.vn, as of October 2026. Official processing takes 3 working days, though Vietnamtour.in advises allowing 7 to 10.
  • Laos e-visa: India is on the eligible list of laoevisa.gov.la, the official e-visa portal of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the tourist e-visa costs about US$50 (₹4,750), as of October 2026. Processing takes about 3 working days, the application must be made at least 5 days before arrival, and the e-visa allows a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. Travellers must carry a printed copy of the approval letter, since a photo on a phone is not accepted, and enter through one of the 9 designated ports, which include Luang Prabang and Wattay (Vientiane) airports but no land crossing on the Vietnam border. Laos has also introduced the Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF), a free online arrival form completed within 3 days before landing.

Single Entry or Multiple Entry: The One That Catches People Out

A single-entry Vietnam e-visa becomes void the moment you leave Vietnam, even for a day. On an itinerary that runs Vietnam to Laos and then back into Vietnam, a single-entry e-visa will not let you re-enter, so the multiple-entry version at US$50 (₹4,750) is the one to apply for. Routes that finish in Luang Prabang or Vientiane and fly home from Laos need only a single-entry e-visa. Your consultant confirms which one your route needs before you apply. Full details on the Vietnam side are in our guide to the Vietnam e-visa for Indian travellers, and the Laos side is covered in our guide on how to reach Laos from India.

Best Routes: How a Two-Country Itinerary Works

A Vietnam and Laos itinerary works best built around Hanoi, which has direct flights of about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes to both Luang Prabang and Vientiane. Two-country routes therefore run in one of two ways: covering northern Vietnam first and finishing in Laos, or flying to Luang Prabang in the middle of the trip and returning to Hanoi or the central coast.

Finishing in Laos or Returning to Vietnam

Finishing in Laos puts Luang Prabang at the end of the trip, after Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Halong Bay, so the slower pace of the old royal capital closes the holiday. This order keeps the Vietnam e-visa to a single entry, and travellers fly home from Luang Prabang or Vientiane on a connecting flight. Returning to Vietnam works the other way round, with Luang Prabang placed between Hanoi and Da Nang or Hoi An. This order suits travellers who want Vietnam's central coast after Laos, but it needs a multiple-entry Vietnam e-visa because the route enters Vietnam twice. Either direction avoids the one thing that wastes a day on a two-country trip: an overland crossing that takes far longer than the flight.

Crossing Between the Two Countries

Flying is the usual way across. Hanoi to Luang Prabang takes about 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes on Lao Airlines and Vietnam Airlines, and Hanoi to Vientiane takes about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes on the same two airlines. Vietnam and Laos also share the same time zone, so the crossing costs half a day at most, including the airport time at both ends. Going overland is the alternative and takes far longer. The bus between Hanoi and Vientiane or Luang Prabang runs about 22 to 24 hours, which makes it impractical on any itinerary under 2 weeks, and the Laos e-visa is not valid at the Vietnam–Laos land borders. Inside Laos, the high-speed train links Luang Prabang and Vientiane in about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes over roughly 240 km, which is the easiest way to see both Lao cities on one trip.

How the Days Usually Split

Laos takes the smaller share of a two-country itinerary, with Luang Prabang the anchor at 3 nights and Vientiane added for 1 or 2 more nights on longer routes. Three nights in Luang Prabang cover a day at Kuang Si Waterfall and Mount Phousi, a day of temples, the former Royal Palace, and a Mekong boat trip to the Pak Ou Caves, and an early morning for the alms-giving procession; our guide to things to do in Luang Prabang covers each of them. The rest of the trip goes to Vietnam, which is why shorter Vietnam and Laos tour packages stay in the north, while longer ones add the central coast. Beyond these two cities, our guide to places to visit in Laos covers the south as well, from the Bolaven Plateau to Tad Fane Waterfall. Our guide on how to travel to Laos from Vietnam covers every crossing in more detail.

Popular Vietnam and Laos Itineraries by Duration

A two-country trip needs at least 8 days, and the length decides how much Vietnam fits alongside Luang Prabang rather than how much time Laos gets.

7–9 Days: Hanoi, Halong Bay and Luang Prabang

The shortest Vietnam and Laos tour packages give northern Vietnam 4 or 5 nights and Luang Prabang 3 nights, with a single flight between Hanoi and Luang Prabang. The Vietnam half covers Hanoi's Old Quarter, Ninh Binh, and a Halong Bay cruise, and couples often book this shape as a Laos honeymoon package with a boutique hotel in Luang Prabang. Travellers can compare the Vietnam half of the trip in our 8-day Vietnam tours and 9-day Vietnam tours.

10–12 Days: Northern Vietnam with Luang Prabang and Vientiane

With 10 to 12 days, a Vietnam Laos tour adds Vientiane to Luang Prabang by high-speed train, or adds Da Nang and Hoi An on the Vietnamese side. That choice decides whether the extra days go to Laos or to Vietnam's central coast. Vientiane brings the Mekong riverfront night market, the liveliest corner of Laos nightlife, and Buddha Park just outside the city. Travellers can see Vietnam options in our 10-day Vietnam tours and 12 day Vietnam tours.

14+ Days: Grand Indochina

From 14 days, the itinerary can take in Cambodia as well, and the 16-day Angkor Temples, Vietnam Icons & Lao Serenity route runs from Siem Reap through Vietnam to 3 nights in Luang Prabang, from ₹1,77,128 per person. Travellers can browse Vietnam tours above 12 days or our Indochina tours, and those who would rather pair Vietnam with Angkor alone can compare our Cambodia and Vietnam tour packages.

Why Book Your Two-Country Trip with Vietnamtour.in?

Crossing a border mid-holiday is where two-country trips usually come apart, because most operators sell a Laos tour package separately and hand travellers over to a second company at the airport. Vietnamtour.in has run 46,000+ tours for travellers from India since 2015, and every Vietnam and Laos tour package runs on one plan from arrival to departure. Travellers who want a Vietnam-only trip can browse all Vietnam tours in one place.
  • One operator across both countries: The same team handles the hotels in Hanoi and in Luang Prabang, the guides on both sides of the border, and the flight between them, so a delay in Laos is fixed by the people who booked Vietnam rather than passed along.
  • A base one flight from Luang Prabang: Vietnamtour.in is headquartered in Hanoi, the main gateway to Laos, so the Vietnam and Laos legs of the trip are planned from the city where they connect.
  • Indian, vegetarian, Halal and Jain meals in both countries: Meals are arranged at every major stop including Luang Prabang, with the chance to try local Laos food along the way, and for private tours the team works with restaurants serving Indian food. Requests need advance notice so the kitchen can prepare properly.
  • Visa guidance for both sides: Vietnamtour.in files the Vietnam e-visa on request at US$35 (₹3,325) per traveller, which covers US$25 in government fees plus the service, and your consultant guides the Laos e-visa application and confirms whether your route needs a single or multiple entry for Vietnam.

Vietnam 2026 Nancy, Sarah and Lumi were great at planning the agenda for our tour in Vietnam with multiple cities involved in our trip. Pick ups and transfers were arranged appropriately. They were very responsive, trustworthy and accommodating of any needs. Only con is that the inclusive food in the tours could be improved, and therefore we decided to try other restaurants outside of the package

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR VIETNAM AND LAOS TRIP

Frequently Asked Questions about a Vietnam and Laos Tour

Yes, a Vietnam e-visa and a Laos e-visa, and neither covers the other. The Vietnam e-visa costs US$25 (₹2,375) for single entry or US$50 (₹4,750) for multiple entry and allows up to 90 days, while the Laos e-visa costs about US$50 (₹4,750) for a 30-day stay. Both visa fees sit outside the package price.
It depends on the route. A single-entry e-visa becomes void the moment you leave Vietnam, so an itinerary that goes to Vietnam, then Laos, then back to Vietnam needs the multiple-entry version at US$50. Routes that finish in Luang Prabang or Vientiane need only a single entry.
Most travellers fly. Hanoi to Luang Prabang takes about 1 hour 10 minutes on Lao Airlines or Vietnam Airlines, and Hanoi to Vientiane takes about the same. The overland alternative runs about 22 to 24 hours by bus, which makes it impractical on a holiday-length itinerary.
No, internal and international flight tickets, along with airport taxes, are excluded from all Vietnam and Laos tour packages from India. The land price covers hotels, private transfers, guides, and sightseeing in both countries. The team books the Hanoi to Luang Prabang flight on request and matches it to the itinerary.
Yes, the Laos e-visa portal requires a printed copy of the approval letter at immigration, and a black-and-white print is fine as long as the QR code is readable. A photo or electronic copy on a phone is not accepted, so travellers should carry the printout with their passport.
8 days is the minimum, with 3 nights in Luang Prabang and the rest in northern Vietnam. 10 to 12 days is where both countries get proper time, adding Vientiane or Vietnam's central coast. Anything shorter than 8 days means cutting Vietnam back to Hanoi alone.
Yes, Indian, vegetarian, Halal, and Jain meals are arranged in Luang Prabang and Vientiane as well as at every Vietnamese stop, and both Lao cities have Indian restaurants. Jain or other specific requests need advance notice so the kitchen can prepare properly.
November to February suits both countries, since Luang Prabang is in its cool, dry season and northern Vietnam is dry. March and April are still dry in Laos but hotter, and smoke from field burning often hazes the skies around Luang Prabang, while May to October is the wet season. Travellers can check the Vietnam side month by month in our guide to the best time to visit Vietnam, and the Laos side in our guide to the best time to visit Laos.
Book 60 to 90 days ahead for most months of the year. Diwali and December departures need 4 to 6 months, and a two-country trip needs extra lead time for the visas: the Laos e-visa must be applied for at least 5 days before arrival and takes about 3 working days, while Vietnamtour.in advises allowing 7 to 10 working days for the Vietnam e-visa.
Start Planning Your Vietnam and Laos Trip One trip, two countries, one point of contact: a Vietnam and Laos tour package from Vietnamtour.in covers 4-star hotels, private transfers and guides on both sides of the border, and Indian, vegetarian, Halal or Jain meals from Halong Bay to Luang Prabang. Every quote sets out exactly what is included and what is not, from the visas to the flight between the two countries, so there is no hidden cost at the end of the holiday. To turn one of these routes into your own two-country plan, share your travel dates, group size and how many nights you want in Laos in the form below. A local consultant will send a full itinerary with visa guidance, the Hanoi to Luang Prabang flight and Indian meals planned, plus a per-person price, within 24 hours, free and with nothing to pay until the plan is right.
