Mysterious history behind Linh Ung Pagoda
According to an old story, during King Ming Mang’s reign, a Buddha statue suddenly drifted down the sandbank in the Son Tra Peninsula. When seeing this statue, the locals set up a shrine to respect Buddha and wish for the best things in their lives.
Since then, the land where the Buddha statue drifted has been called “Bai But,” meaning “Buddha realm in the middle of the world.” Indeed, the pagoda was originally named “Bai But Pagoda” since its position was on this sandbank. Inside the statue, there are 17 floors, and each storey has 21 different Buddha statues. Besides that, this space was designed with ventilation doors and a staircase leading to the statue’s top.
