Mysterious history behind Linh Ung Pagoda

Linh Ung Pagoda

According to an old story, during King Ming Mang’s reign, a Buddha statue suddenly drifted down the sandbank in the Son Tra Peninsula. When seeing this statue, the locals set up a shrine to respect Buddha and wish for the best things in their lives.

Since then, the land where the Buddha statue drifted has been called “Bai But,” meaning “Buddha realm in the middle of the world.” Indeed, the pagoda was originally named “Bai But Pagoda” since its position was on this sandbank. However, over many historical periods, the temple was renovated and is currently known as “Linh Ung Pagoda.”

What Makes Linh Ung so special?
