Where to visit

Hanoi – Halong Bay – Sapa – Da Nang – Hoi An – Phu Quoc – Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta

Detailed itinerary

Welcome to Hanoi. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and your beloved family at the airport and take everyone to the hotel for check-in (around 14:00–15:00).

After a long journey, the rest of the day is left open so your family can rest properly, especially if travelling with children or older members. If you feel comfortable, you can take a short walk nearby, but there is no fixed schedule for the day.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

You’ll leave Hanoi early in the morning (around 05:00) and travel to Halong Bay by private car, making the journey more comfortable and easier to manage for families.

After checking in at the cruise’s lounge, you’ll board the cruise and enjoy a light breakfast while the boat moves through Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. Most of the experience is relaxed, so the whole family can simply sit and enjoy the scenery together without needing to move around too much.

You’ll visit Sung Sot Cave and Titov Island. At Titov, you can choose between climbing up for the view or staying by the water, depending on what suits your family. At Luon Cave, you can either kayak or take a bamboo boat, so everyone can choose what feels easier.

Lunch is served onboard, and there is enough time between activities to rest. The schedule is clear and not rushed, making it manageable even with different ages in the group.

You’ll return to Hanoi in the evening.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi - Day Trip to Halong Bay - Share Cruise - Private Car (B, L)

Your day begins with a private transfer and guide taking you and your loved ones from your hotel to Sapa. The journey follows the highway to Lao Cai with a short comfort break along the way, before continuing on a scenic mountain road where valleys and terraced fields gradually come into view.

Upon arrival in Sapa, you will notice the vibrant presence of ethnic groups such as the H’mong, Dzao, and Tay in their colorful traditional costumes. Everyone will have time to enjoy lunch with local Vietnamese dishes (at your own expense) and complete your hotel check-in.

In the afternoon, take a short walk to Cat Cat Village, home of the Black H’mong people, located at the foot of Fansipan Peak. With your local guide, explore daily life in the village and trek down to the valley to visit a waterfall and a historic hydraulic power station built by the French. There will be time to take photos before trekking back uphill to Sapa, enjoying the beautiful scenery in the late afternoon.

The trekking distance is approximately 2.5 km and takes around 2 hours. Afterward, your driver will pick you up and bring you back to Sapa town.

The evening is free for dinner and personal activities at your own pace.

Overnight in Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa Arrival - Cat Cat Village (Private Tour) (B)

Today brings one of the most memorable highlights of your time in the north, with a journey to Fansipan Peak, also known as the highest point in Indochina.

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the cable car station and begin your ascent. The ride itself is a key part of the experience, offering wide, uninterrupted views over the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. As the cabin rises above the valleys, you’ll see layers of forest, terraced hillsides, and clouds drifting across the landscape, creating a calm and scenic start to the day.

Upon reaching the upper station, you’ll have time to explore the area at your own pace. A series of stone paths and stairways lead you through temple complexes and viewpoints, with opportunities to pause, take photos, or simply take in the fresh mountain air. If you feel comfortable, you can continue up the final steps to the summit, where a panoramic view awaits. This is a rewarding moment, but entirely optional depending on your preference and energy level.

After descending by cable car, you’ll return to Sapa town for a short break before beginning your journey back to Hanoi by private car, with comfort stops along the way.

You’ll arrive in Hanoi in the evening, after a full yet well-paced day that combines natural scenery with a comfortable travel experience.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 4: Sapa - Fansipan Peak by Cable Car - Hanoi (Private Tour) (B)

Today, your journey continues with a short flight from Hanoi to Da Nang, where the atmosphere gradually changes from the cultural charm of the capital to a more relaxed coastal setting.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in and take some time to settle into your new surroundings. The change in pace is immediately noticeable, offering a refreshing contrast to the earlier days of your trip.

The remainder of the day is left free, allowing you to unwind at your own pace. Whether you choose to relax at the hotel, spend time by the beach, or simply enjoy the slower rhythm of seaside living, the time is yours to enjoy as you wish.

Overnight in Da Nang.

Day 5: Hanoi - Fly to Danang (B)

You’ll start the day at Cam Thanh fishing village, where you’ll explore the water coconut forest on a basket boat.

The activity is simple and guided by local fishermen, so it’s easy for both adults and children to join. You’ll move slowly through the waterways and try light activities like paddling or watching fishing demonstrations.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit Hoi An Ancient Town. The walking route is not long and includes regular stops, so it doesn’t feel tiring. You’ll visit key sites like the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall and the Japanese Bridge while also having time to walk around.

In the evening, you’ll take a short boat ride and release a lantern on the river — a simple activity that works well for all ages.

Overnight in Da Nang.

Day 6: Da Nang - Cam Thanh Coconut Jungle - Hoi an City Tour - Drop Flower Lantern (Private Tour) (B)

After breakfast, you will take a scenic journey from the coastline to Ba Na Hills, where the world’s longest Hon Thom cable car ride offers breathtaking views of mountains and lush landscapes.

At the top, you will walk across the iconic Golden Bridge, explore the charming French Village, and enjoy a variety of attractions in a cool, refreshing climate. You also can admire the beautiful Linh Ung Pagoda and take in panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The experience offers a perfect contrast to your beach stay while maintaining comfort and exclusivity.

A carefully arranged lunch with Indian-friendly options ensures a delightful experience before returning to the coast.

Overnight in Da Nang.

Day 7: Danang - Ba Na Hills with the Golden Bridge (Private Tour) (B, L)

The morning is for the whole family to enjoy at leisure, giving everyone time to relax or make the most of your remaining moments in Danang at your own pace.

At the appropriate time, your driver (no guide) will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Phu Quoc.

Upon arrival, welcome to Phu Quoc Island, where a more laid-back, coastal atmosphere awaits. Your driver (no guide) will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

Your rooms will be available according to the hotel’s standard check-in time (approximately 14:00–15:00). The rest of the day is free for you to relax, settle in, or explore the surroundings at your own pace. Meals are on your own.

Overnight in Phu Quoc.

Day 8: Danang - Fly to Phu Quoc (B)

Today, in the morning, you and your family will explore Vinpearl Safari, where you can observe wildlife in spacious, natural habitats. The safari experience offers a unique opportunity to see animals up close while enjoying a comfortable and well-organized environment.

In the afternoon, continue to VinWonders theme park, a vibrant destination that perfectly complements your island escape.

As you explore the park together, a mix of thrilling rides, immersive themed zones, and beautifully designed spaces creates a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. For beach lovers, the highlight lies in the park’s ocean-inspired areas, where the energy of the sea blends seamlessly with fun and entertainment.

Beyond excitement, you can slow down in the aquarium zones, where colorful marine life brings a refreshing coastal vibe. The enchanting mermaid show adds a magical touch, with graceful underwater performances that echo the beauty of the ocean.

After the visit, your driver will transfer everyone back to your hotel, ending the day with refreshing moments inspired by the sea.

Overnight in Phu Quoc.

Day 9: Phu Quoc - Vin Wonders & Vin Safari (Private Tour) (B)

Your day begins with a visit to a pearl center, followed by a transfer to An Thoi Harbor, where your island-hopping experience starts.

A boat journey then takes you to several islands, each offering a different coastal setting. Mong Tay Island is known for its clear water and calm beach, while Gam Ghi Island is ideal for snorkeling and observing coral. At May Rut Island, a long sandy beach lined with coconut trees creates a relaxed space to unwind. For those interested, an optional seawalking activity is also available (with an extra cost).

Lunch is served at Hon Thom Island, after which you will have time to enjoy Aquatopia Water Park. Later in the day, a cable car ride (approximately 25 minutes) offers wide views over the sea and surrounding islands.

By late afternoon, you will arrive at Sunset Town, where Mediterranean-style architecture, the Clock Tower, and Kissing Bridge create a distinctive seaside atmosphere, especially as the sun begins to set.

In the evening, there is an option to attend the “Kiss of the Sea” show (not included). While optional, it is highly recommended and often considered a highlight of the Phu Quoc experience. Known as one of the most impressive performances on the island, the show combines water effects, lighting, and live performances to create a visually striking evening by the sea.

After the visit, return to your hotel.

Overnight in Phu Quoc.

Day 10: Phu Quoc - 4-Island Tour with Cable Car (Private Tour) (B, L)

Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Phu Quoc, with some free time to pack, take a short walk by the beach, or simply unwind before your departure.

At the scheduled time, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, your guide and driver will be there to welcome you and take you to your hotel for check-in.

The rest of the day is free, giving you time to settle in and ease into the change of pace after your beach stay.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

Day 11: Phu Quoc - Fly to Ho Chi Minh (B)

Today, you’ll explore some of Ho Chi Minh City’s most well-known landmarks at a comfortable pace.

Start with a visit to the Independence Palace, a historic site that offers a look into Vietnam’s modern history. From there, continue to the Notre Dame Cathedral (viewed from outside) and the Central Post Office, both known for their colonial-era architecture and easy to walk through, making the visit relaxed and manageable for all ages.

The tour continues to the War Remnants Museum, where exhibits provide deeper insight into Vietnam’s past. The visit is kept within a reasonable duration, so it doesn’t feel too heavy, especially for families traveling together.

After around 3.5–4 hours, return to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

Day 12: Ho Chi Minh Half-Day City Tour (Private Tour) (B)

After breakfast, you’ll leave the city behind for a drive to My Tho in the Mekong Delta, where life moves at a much slower pace.

On arrival, you’ll board a local boat and travel along the Mekong River, passing small islands and riverside homes. The journey is gentle and easy, giving everyone time to sit back and take in the surroundings.

You’ll stop at a local workshop to see how coconut candy is made, followed by a short rowing boat ride through narrow, shaded canals, which is definitely one of the most enjoyable parts for families. There will also be time to taste fresh tropical fruits while listening to traditional music in a relaxed setting.

The day is designed to be simple and not too demanding, with short activities and plenty of breaks in between. In the afternoon, return to Ho Chi Minh City and enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

Day 13: Ho Chi Minh - Mekong Delta (My Tho) Tour (Private Tour) (B)

After breakfast, your family will be warmly greeted by your private guide and driver at the hotel, ready to begin a comfortable journey to Cu Chi, about 1.5 hours away. The drive is easy and relaxing, giving everyone time to settle in while your guide shares simple, engaging stories to help the whole family connect with the history ahead.

Arriving at Cu Chi, you will have time to explore the famous tunnel network that played an important role during the Vietnam War. With thoughtful guidance, the experience is presented in a clear and approachable way, making it suitable for different ages. You will also learn about the underground system, including hidden entrances, living areas, and how people adapted to life below the surface.

There will be opportunities to see real-life exhibits and, for those who are interested, try entering a section of the tunnels to better understand the space. This part is completely optional, so each family member can choose what feels most comfortable. Your guide will always be nearby to support and adjust the pace, ensuring everyone enjoys the visit in their own way.

After the visit, your family will return to Ho Chi Minh City in your private vehicle, with time to rest and share thoughts about the experience together.

Tour Duration: Approximately 4.5 – 5 hours.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 14: Ho Chi Minh - Cu Chi Tunnels (Private Tour) (B)

Enjoy free time before your transfer to the airport.

As your journey comes to an end, the shared moments and relaxed experiences throughout Vietnam will stay with your family long after the trip.

Wonderful Vietnam Trip with Vietnamtour We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Vietnamtour and would highly recommend them for anyone planning a trip to Vietnam. We explored Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Ba Na Hills, Hoi An and Phu Quoc, and every part of the trip was well planned and executed. A special mention to Quin, our travel agent, who was extremely helpful and supportive throughout the trip. From airport transfers and hotels to food, sightseeing and all the little details, everything was taken care of very well. She was always available whenever we needed assistance, even when we faced an unexpected flight-related issue that was outside the package. The entire trip was comfortable, well organised and truly memorable. Thank you to the whole Vietnamtour team, and especially Quin, for making our Vietnam holiday such a wonderful experience!
