14 Days in Indochina: Coastlines, Cities & Ancient Wonders

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Halong Bay is one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders, featuring thousands of limestone islands rising from emerald waters.

In the early morning, your guide will collect you from the hotel for the drive to Halong Bay along the expressway. Arriving around midday at Tuan Chau Harbor, board your day cruise for a journey of several hours among the bay’s striking islets, with lunch served on board.

Visit Sung Sot Cave (the “Surprise Cave”) to admire its remarkable stalactites, then climb Titov Island for a panoramic view over the bay. Later, enjoy kayaking or a bamboo boat ride through Luon Cave to discover its hidden lagoon, followed by a sunset atmosphere with tea and cakes on the sundeck. Return to the harbor and transfer back to Hanoi in the evening.

Enjoy free time until your driver transfers you to the airport for your flight to Da Nang, a vibrant city on Vietnam’s central coast.

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in (standard check-in time from 2:00 PM). The rest of the day is leisurely exploring this coastal city at your own pace-relax on My Khe Beach, browse the Son Tra Night Market, or stroll along the Han River to admire the illuminated Dragon Bridge (which breathes fire and water at 9:00 PM on weekends). You may also opt for an evening Han River dinner cruise past the city’s sparkling skyline.

Overnight in Da Nang.

Around midday, set out for Cam Thanh Coconut Village, gliding through its peaceful coconut forest water aboard a traditional bamboo basket boat. Learn local fishing techniques and enjoy hands-on activities that offer an authentic glimpse of village life.

Continue to Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its timeless charm. Visit the colorful Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, browse the Central Market, and step inside the beautifully preserved Phung Hung or Tan Ky Ancient House, once home to prosperous merchants. Explore the Museum of Folk Culture, enjoy a performance at the Hoi An Traditional Performing Arts House, and pause at the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, built more than 400 years ago.

As evening falls, enjoy a boat ride on the Hoai River and release a flower lantern in a wish for good fortune, then wander the lantern-lit night market before returning to your hotel in Da Nang.

After breakfast, travel to Ba Na Hills, at an altitude of 1,487 meters, and ascend by a record-setting cable car, taking in marvelous mountain scenery along the way.

Admire the world-famous Golden Bridge, held aloft by giant stone hands, along with Le Jardin D’Amour and Linh Ung Pagoda. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the resort, then take a second cable car to explore the French Village, a romantic replica of classical France, and the many rides and attractions of Fantasy Park, including the top of Queen Mountain. Return by cable car to Da Nang in the afternoon.

Enjoy free time until your driver transfers you to the airport for your flight to Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s idyllic island paradise of white-sand beaches and turquoise sea.

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your beachfront resort for check-in (standard check-in time from 2:00 PM). The rest of the day is free at leisure to relax by the shore.

This morning, visit Vinpearl Safari, Vietnam’s largest wildlife conservation park, combining an open zoo with a semi-wild safari experience. Wander the Open Zoo among giraffes, flamingos, zebras, and elephants, enjoy the animal show, and ride the Safari Bus through the semi-wild zone to observe lions, tigers, and rhinos up close.

In the afternoon, continue to VinWonders, one of the largest theme parks in Vietnam, with a world of attractions, from the Adventure World of roller coasters and the turtle-shaped Sea Shell aquarium to Typhoon World water park and the multimedia spectacular of the ONCE Show. Return to your resort in the evening.

Overnight in Phu Quoc.

After a stop at a pearl farm, set out from An Thoi Port on a scenic island-hopping tour. Swim and relax at May Rut Trong and May Rut Ngoai Islands, then snorkel among the vibrant coral reefs off Gam Ghi Island.

Reaching Hon Thom, make a splash at Aquatopia Water Park, with its many rides and themed zones, and enjoy a buffet lunch on the island. In the late afternoon, glide back to the mainland aboard the world’s longest sea-crossing cable car, taking in panoramic views over An Thoi fishing village and the southern islands.

Overnight in Phu Quoc.

Enjoy free time until your driver transfers you to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s dynamic southern metropolis.

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in (standard check-in time from 2:00 PM). The rest of the day is leisurely exploring the city at your own pace – browse the iconic Ben Thanh Market, stroll along Nguyen Hue Walking Street, admire the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral (viewed from outside), take in the views from the Saigon Skydeck, or experience the lively nightlife of Bui Vien Walking Street.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Known as Vietnam’s “Rice Bowl,” the Mekong Delta is a fertile region where life revolves around rivers, canals, and orchards.

In the morning, your guide and driver will take you on a scenic drive to Ben Tre, the “capital of coconuts.” Board a boat to navigate the Ben Tre River, observing the lively town market and the bustling waterway of fishing vessels and coconut cargo boats. Visit traditional brickworks, cruise the winding Cai Son Canal shaded by coconut jungles, and stop at a family-run coconut candy workshop to sample warm sweets and fresh fruit to the sound of “Don Ca Tai Tu” folk music.

Continue deeper into the countryside – learn the art of sedge-mat weaving at a farmer’s home, ride a tuk-tuk through the lush groves of Nhon Thanh and Thuan Dien, and take a hand-rowed sampan along a shady canal lined with water palms at Cai Tac. In the evening, return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Enjoy free time until your private transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, the gateway to the magnificent temples of Angkor and the final country of your journey.

On arrival at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in the city center, about an hour away, for check-in (standard check-in time from 2:00 PM). The rest of the day is free at leisure.

After breakfast, set off on a full day among the ancient temples of Angkor. Beginning at Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its vast complex is known as the “City of Temples.”

Continuing to Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most atmospheric temples, left much as it was found and famously embraced by towering tree roots – a location in the film Tomb Raider. Then journey to Angkor Thom, the great walled capital established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, exploring the captivating Bayon Temple with its serene stone faces, along with the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King, and Baphuon Temple.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Today, journey into the Cambodian countryside to the sacred hilltop of Phnom Kulen, about 58 kilometers north of Siem Reap.

Here lies Mahendraparvata, a holy mountain of deep religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists alike, and a place of great symbolic importance to Cambodians as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, where King Jayavarman II proclaimed independence in 804 CE. Within Kulen National Park, discover a magnificent waterfall set amid forest terrain, and visit the River of a Thousand Lingas, where sacred carvings in the riverbed honor the Hindu god Shiva. Climb a flight of steps to see the country’s largest Reclining Buddha, carved into a massive boulder and revered as one of the holiest sites in Cambodia, before taking in sweeping views from the summit platform.

Return to Siem Reap in the afternoon.
