About Lang Biang Mountain
Lang Biang Mountain is located in Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province, 12 kilometers from the North of Dalat City. The Lang Biang Peak includes the Ba Peak (2,167 meters), and the Ong Peak (2,124 meters). The Radar Peak (1,929 meters). The name of the mountain is associated with the love story between K’lang and H’biang. This is a long-standing legend of the K’ho ethnic people. K’lang saved H’biang from a wolf while picking fruit in the forest. The love between them bloomed but was not accepted by the village people.
They left the village and went to the mountains to live together. However, Biang got sick. K’lang decided to return to the town to find medicine for his wife. When he turned back, village people surrounded him and shot him. H’biang died when she used her body to protect her husband from being hit by a poisoned row.
After the death of H’biang, K Liang was heartbroken and cried a lot. His tears turned into a stream called Danikia (the Golden Stream). He chose death to be with his wife forever. After that, H’biang’s father repented, unified the two tribes into the K’ho tribe, allowing men and women to be freely in love. The mountain where the couple died was renamed Lang Biang, a combination of K’lang and H’biang swords.
